Our Third Workshop: Website Function Analysis 102 Really Put Our Group
Through the Paces...and they Loved It!

On Wednesday July 13, BannerView.com held at its offices the second in a series of three
in-depth workshops in its Edutainment Learning Series. The session focused on Website Functionality: “When to Recognize that your Business Needs are Outpacing the Functions of Your Website.” Lead by our CMO, veteran business executive, Pamela Joy Ring, we gathered around the conference table and she put the group through the paces.

The course combined a power point presentation integrated with role playing and analyzing live websites categorized by different industry types: service, manufacturing, retail and organizations such as non-profits. The group reviewed the Four Fundamentals in Understanding Website Operations and the Three Factors to Use to Evaluate the Functionality of a Business Website.

The Four Fundamentals in Understanding Today’s Websites and the Internet:

  1. A website is a tool and is a part of a portfolio of options needed to be
employed in maximizing a business’s prospects and revenue opportunities.

  2. Today’s websites can be profit centers for your business because there are all kinds of
functions available that make a website work which were not available three to
five years ago. If they were...they were cumbersome for the visitor to use relative to today.

  3. Today’s most successful websites are built to engage the search engines. This means that
the content is developed with appropriate and relevant key words and that they are
strategically placed on the web page in places the search engines view. Furthermore, it is
important to keep your content fresh and current. Certain features of functionality such
as using blogs and newsletters are effective in achieving the purpose.

  4. Use the three factors in assessing website functionality:
__Your Business Goals for the Website
    __Know your Target Audience
    __Utilize Search Engine Analysis

The session focused on the three factors. Each factor was applied to live websites as well as to the websites belonging to members in the group:

“You guys rock! I learned so much...thank you!”

“I was very pleased with the group’s enthusiasm and participation. I received comments after from,‘the presentation was excellent’ to a next day phone call telling me that I did a ‘fantastic job’ and that ‘we really knew our stuff.’ Our goal with the series is to give people take-away tools which they can readily apply to their business and websites and it appears we are accomplishing just that.”
