This Summer...the Edutainment Learning Series is...
Helping and Heating Up Our Attendees’ Business Websites

Hello “Edutainment News” readers. We’re having a lot of great summer sizzle with our workshop series! In July we had two workshops: an in depth look at Website Functionality, held on July 13, and a repeat class of the series overview, “Website Fundamentals 101: An Introduction,” held on July 27.

In our previous newsletter, we reviewed the July 13 class. So, this issue will recap our latest class. True to the spirit of the series we gathered round our conference table with lunch and work sheets in hand. We were an animated and engaged group and there was a lot of back and forth discussion as our Edutainment teachers made their presentations.

The presentations were synopses of the three in-depth workshops. First was about building a website for search engine optimization and how to leverage social media into that mix. This is always a popular discourse. The core topics reviewed were: 1. The importance of keywords and having content that is “relevant” to your business; 2. Their strategic placement on a web page so that the search engines understand who you are and where on the page to look to access that information. These first steps set the stage for getting your website ranked and ranked well on the search engines. Next is keeping your content fresh and current. Such tools as blogs and newsletters are effective mechanisms. Add to the mix using social media. The interactivity between your website and social media enhances keeping content fresh and current. When the content on your site is current, the search engines like to visit you, which in turn increases your rankings. Increased rankings spell higher qualified traffic to your site, which in turn, heightens your business prospects and revenue opportunities. The next in-depth workshop covering this subject: “SEO Strategies that Positively Impact your Bottom Line Including How to Leverage Social Media to your Advantage” is October 12.

“Thank you for a very informative seminar.  I wished it had been an all day one!  So much information!  I look forward to the future ones!  Have a wonderful rest of your week!
Warmest Regards”

The second excerpt of the series was about website functionality...and it has nothing to do with mechanics and everything to do with strategic thinking. The functioning of your website is only as good as your business strategy for it. Our Edutainment teacher got the group thinking about perceived notions of what a website can do for a business and highlighted what more it can do. There are a plethora of website functioning capabilities available today which weren’t so five years ago. Defining your value proposition for your target audience and what calls to action you need to apply, are critical to the functioning of your site. The full course, “When to recognize that your Business Needs are Out Pacing the Functions of your Website,” will take place on November 9. It was very well received when we ran it on July 13, read about it here.

The third overview focused on Cloud Computing and boy was that an animated session! Cloud Computing is the next big thing on the Internet. It can change the computing industry as we know it. Cloud Computing enables a user the ability to conduct computing using the Internet and its network to perform computing functions instead of having an on-site computer. There are a host of cost and time-saving efficiencies associated with the Cloud model as well as some risks. There are security vulnerabilities that go with this technology which got our group really going. They were so passionate, that most everyone there signed up for the full blown course on August 10. There are just a few seats left for, “How Cloud Computing Capabilities Can Save you Time and Money.”
