Decide on Growth, Before Change Sneaks Up On You

Decide on Growth, Before Change Sneaks Up On You

"Change is inevitable, growth is intentional."
- Glenda Cloud

Ah yes... another blog article, another message about change. I've discussed in previous posts that change is good, and that it is what inevitably drives growth. However, until recently, what I failed to realize is that if you don't intend to grow, then change can leave you feeling confused and searching for answers that you may not be equipped to answer at that given moment.

I see it time and again in business that we resist elements of change because we don't know what the final outcome may be. We may continue to slowly progress (or not progress at all) until we feel more comfortable with what we feel the change will bring, even though we likely still don't know the extent of what's to come. If you look at growth as an intentional effort, then you'll be much more prepared to handle what comes your way, no matter what the end result is.

This holds true in our personal lives as well. Change is inevitable, but it takes an effort to grow - sometimes more effort than we originally thought, and some might consider that sometimes it's more effort than it's worth. Many of us are guilty of getting comfortable with things that come easy, and I'm certainly not exempt from that list. Change can sneak up on you and if you don't identify it quickly and embrace it as an opportunity to grow, you'll be left trying to answer a lot of questions that are merely a result of the fear of change. One key to pressing forward is to remain confident that you've made the right decisions and to not second-guess what you feel to be true at the time.
