What email marketing metrics should I track?

There are two that you should pay close attention to:

  • Open rate: The number of subscribers who opened or viewed your email.

  • Click-through rate: Percentage of subscribers who clicked at least one link in your email.

Low Open Rates may signal a weak, uninteresting headline or potentially have been labelled SPAM. Test various headlines. For Click-Through Rate, test link placement within your newsletter. Test various times of day and days of week to see if that boosts the rates as well.
