Be the Leader

I recently attended a Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Business Education Series seminar that featured a long time client, good friend and great speaker, Betty Mahalik of Dynamic Solutions. The seminar was titled "Go Ahead - Get a Life," and the premise was finding a balance in life, which is right up my alley! As my readers can tell you, this blog is all about the quest in life to find balance, specifically in the areas of my professional and personal life. One of the most important things that I took from this seminar was that balance doesn't necessarily mean equal parts personal, and equal parts professional; after all, times change throughout the course of our lives and at times we have to put more into one area than another. Betty pointed out that a more appropriate term may actually be "harmony." Although I'm not ready to abandon my blog title of "Blogging for Balance," since it has such a nice ring to it, I thought this was a very good point to make to my audience.

The thought was reenforced from one of my recent blogs "To Each Their Own" when she went on to explain that everyone has a different perception of balance and harmony, and that there is no one-size-fits-all program to adhere to in order to achieve this goal. With that being said, it occurred to me that truly the only person that can determine what balance means to them, is themselves, which means it's up to you to be the leader in your own quest for harmony. The quote above says it best, that in order to create the future you desire, you must be the leader in your own quest. Naturally, having a personal or business coach, such at Betty, to help keep you on track is still helpful, but the decision to work toward this goal must be yours, and it's you that must lead the way to your own desired future.

Once you've taken the reins and begin leading yourself toward the future you desire, imagine the effect it can have on your personal and professional life. Feeling more empowered in the decisions you make, as well as the confidence you continue to build as you see the efforts you apply provide the results you want, creates an all around win-win situation! Being a leader in any aspect of your life can produce real results that benefit everyone around you. Take a moment to decide the future you desire, then get to it and start leading the way!
