What Are You NOT Doing?

(06/24/2009) Jeff R. Helvin

What Are You NOT Doing?

"It is not only for what we do that we are held responsible, but also for what we do not do." - Moliere

I've been blogging quite a bit about taking action, like getting off your dead horse, then by asking what you have waiting in the wings and that keeping up is really just getting you further behind because everything around you will continue to change. The quote above continues the theme by pointing out that we're not only held responsible for what we are doing, but we're also held responsible for what we are not doing.

As I continue to blog for balance in my personal and professional life, I continue to learn from these quotes as it makes it very easy to see that on one hand, by putting so much effort into one aspect of your life, such as work, you may also be neglecting other aspects of your life, such as family. It's important to continually weigh the pros and cons of your decisions, and to analyze how they effect those around you. On one hand, I have a commitment to my business, its investors and to our many employees to work hard and continue to build a solid foundation to ensure continued success and an avenue to better all of our lives. On the other hand, I have a commitment to myself, and to those that are close to me personally to keep myself healthy and in good spirit so that I don't allow stress and responsibility to overcome me and take over my life.

Take a good look at what you're doing today to improve your life, personally and professionally, and take a better look at what you may not be doing to make sure you have a good balance and a better chance at overall success.
